One of our favorite flowers is in the news. In fact, it has been named Herb of the Year, and we want to pass on some great information about this terrific little blossom. |
|
|
Along with the budding flowers and cute bunnies (what better symbol of renewal and fertility?), we have another fabulous expert to introduce. |
|
|
And to help with the feeling of renewal and spring-cleaning, Angel Baby Shampoo & Body Wash is on sale. |
|
|
We also asked Mike Bronner (yes, THAT Bronner) about soap, and why it’s so much better for you and your baby than detergents. |

All Lathered Up.
The Truth About What's in your Soap
When you think of the word ‘soap’ you might think of several things, including bars of various brands, famous commercials with skin-affirming properties being detailed, liquid versions and laundry varieties. In truth, very little of what you just thought about is probably true soap. To get the skinny on soap, we asked the world’s leading authority on natural soap, Mike Bronner, of the iconic Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap. He was kind enough to shed some light on the topic. Read all about it here. |

Mama in the News!
We’re no strangers to the spotlight but with all the hub bub and scare about phthalates last month, we felt grateful to be able to take our message about safe products for mamas and babies even further. FOX News Online interviewed our Mama marketing director Sheri Wallace in their “How Green Are Organic Shampoos and Lotions?” feature. Click here to read all about it! And you can check for our Phthalate Free log for your assurance that Earth Mama Angel Baby products will always be pure as can be, and
phthalate-free.
Concerned About 1,4-Dioxane?
Because of all the recent press and concerns about first about phthalates and now about 1,4-Dioxane contamination in mama and baby care products, Mama wants you to know that her products have never had any of these chemicals, and they never will. Mama’s products are free from any artificial fragrances which are known to be a source of phthalate contamination. And you can rest assured that our soaps have always been made using true saponified organic oils not chemical detergents made with Sodium Myreth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Amidylpropyl betaine or Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate – all toxic chemicals most commonly used to make detergent shampoos and body washes. Mama’s Promise has always been that if she wouldn’t put
these chemicals on her own angel babies, she won’t sell it. Promise.
We welcome your questions about ingredients, and urge all our mamas to do more research about ingredients. The vast majority of our products are rated a zero (0) by the Enviornmental Working Group’s database Skin Deep (www.safecosmetics.org) which is the lowest rating available, and indicates safe, non-toxic ingredients. We believe independent research into ingredients is the best way to learn their true source and possible toxicity. We are working with many industry leaders, the Organic Consumer’s Association and the Organic Trade Association to support standards which hold manufacturers to more truthful disclosure and organic claims in labeling. And, as more organic ingredients are available, we will add them to products that are not currently 100% organic. Mama uses
the highest percentage of organic ingredients possible, and sources new ingredients constantly.
And remember. The majority of the publicity of late is about the ingredients in baby care products. But we want mamas everywhere to remember that up to 60% of what goes onto your skin can be absorbed into your body. So what you put on that amazing pregnant belly is being put on your newest of new babies. Before she’s even born. Mama believes that angel babies and their mamas are too precious to risk with toxins.

And the Herb of the Year Is...
The American Botanical Council just announced their herb of the year, and we couldn’t be more excited. An herb near and dear to all our mama hearts, Calendula is known for its healing properties, and scientific research has shown that it is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antitumor, cytotoxic, anti-HIV and wound healing. A recent study also showed that Calendula is effective in relieving the pain associated with cracked or bleeding nipples. That’s why Mama includes it in everything from Angel Baby Bath Blossoms for calming fussy angels, and Angel Baby Bottom Balm and Angel Baby Diaper Rash Soap for diaper rash and boo boos, to Natural Stretch Oil for itchy, stretching skin, and Natural Nipple Butter for cracked nipples, we take full advantage of this sweet little flower that packs a therapeutic punch. Read the entire American Botanical Council article here, there’s oodles more information about the specific studies and other uses of one of our favorite flowers. |
